About Physiotherapy
What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession that helps restore movement and function through physical methods such as exercise, manual therapy and education. It treats a wide range of conditions affecting muscles, bones, joints and nerves.
How does Physiotherapy work?
Physiotherapy works by using evidence-based techniques to reduce pain, improve mobility, strengthen muscles and restore function. Your therapist will assess your condition and create a personalised treatment plan tailored to your specific needs.
Is Physiotherapy painful?
While some discomfort may be felt during treatment, physiotherapy should not be painful. Our therapists work within your pain tolerance and will communicate throughout treatment to ensure your comfort.
How long does it take to see results?
Results vary depending on your condition and commitment to treatment. Some patients notice improvement within 2-3 sessions, while others may need 6-8 weeks. Your therapist will discuss realistic timelines during your initial assessment.

Can Physiotherapy help with chronic pain?
Yes, physiotherapy is highly effective for chronic pain management. We use various techniques including exercise, manual therapy, and education to help reduce pain and improve function.
Do I need a GP referral?
No, you don't need a GP referral to see our physiotherapists. You can self-refer directly. However, if you have private health insurance, a referral may be required for coverage.
Can Physiotherapy help prevent injuries?
Absolutely. Our therapists can assess your movement patterns and provide personalised exercises and advice to help prevent injuries, especially for athletes and active individuals.
Appointments and Bookings
How do I book an appointment?
You can book an appointment directly through our website, using the booking form, or by calling us directly on 07402 840111. We'll confirm your appointment within 24 hours.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows easy movement. You may need to expose the area being treated, so plan accordingly. For example, shorts are recommended for anything hip, knee or ankle related and for women, a sports bra or vest works best for anything shoulder, neck or back related.
What happens at my first appointment?
Your first appointment includes a comprehensive assessment of your condition, medical history and goals. We'll perform physical tests to understand your problem and put together a personalised treatment plan.
How long are appointments?
Initial consultations are typically 45-60 minutes, depending on complexity while follow-up sessions are typically 45 minutes. This allows adequate time for assessment, treatment and discussion of home exercises.

Why are home exercises important?
Home exercises are crucial for your recovery. They reinforce what you learn in sessions,
accelerate healing and help prevent future injuries. Consistency with home exercises often determines treatment success.
Home Exercises and Recovery
How often should I do home exercises?
Your therapist will provide specific recommendations based on your condition. Typically, exercises should be done daily or as prescribed to achieve optimal results.
How long should I continue exercises after treatment ends?
To maintain results and prevent recurrence, we recommend continuing maintenance exercises indefinitely. Your therapist will provide guidance on long-term exercise routines.
What if I can't do the exercises?
Let your therapist know immediately. We can modify exercises to suit your abilities or suggest alternatives that work better for you.
